Piano Lessons For All Ages and Levels
My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Music from Walla Walla University and a Master of Music degree from Andrews University. I am an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Washington State Music Teachers Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
I began teaching piano during my college years and have experience teaching all ages and skill levels. My objective is to develop the musical potential of each student, provide a lifelong outlet for self-expression, and instill a love of music and the piano. Lessons are tailored to the individual interests and abilities of the student. A well-balanced curriculum includes piano technique, practice skills, music theory, ear training, and repertoire in a variety of musical styles including classical, sacred, pop, jazz, blues, lead sheets, harmonization and duet playing. In addition to weekly lessons, students attend several group lessons and performance classes throughout the year. Two recitals are offered yearly with additional optional performance opportunities in the WA State Music Artistry Program, Musicfest Northwest and National Guild Auditions.
My experience includes teaching as adjunct professor of piano studies at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA for twelve years. Currently I maintain a private piano studio in Walla Walla, WA. In addition, I am part of the piano faculty at Walla Walla University. I am active in my church as a music leader and accompanist as well as accompanying in other local churches. Music has always been a joy in my life and I hope to inspire this love for music in my students.
